Welcome to my explorer blog site. I’ve traveled a lot since this photo was taken and have changed a lot too; age will do that. But what age does, make you realize life is short and why waste it?
I’ve traveled extensively over the years and recently have decided to purchase a camper and venture out into the world to experience more on our home soil.
My camper of choice has changed over this past year, but what ever one I land on, it I won’t get it until 2024.
Over the past month I converted the only store to an Etsy store. This will make it easier to manage the product and the pesky thing of collecting sales tax. Visit the Store
Below are a few interesting companies I’ve come across while watching RVing YouTube videos; hopefully you’ll find them cool too.
If you’re looking for a conversion van I have just the company to help you out. I watched all their videos, and what impressed me was how the owner talked about solving real problems. The designs are smart, well thought out and to me, looks like the highest of quality.

What I love about this company is they have created conversion kits for minivans to help people convert their vehicles into living spaces. It’s all very modular and compact.

Dream it, Build it, Protect it
I came across this company while browsing through Youtube. This is also a small company that builds with a passion. What impressed me was how they build to fit the needs of their customer, it’s all custom. Beyond doing full size vans, they got their start building out small vans called the Mini Me package.

I moved hear to take the step of purchasing a camper, and I've accomplished it. In truth I had doubts. I've been known to have great dreams, but rarely follow through, that doesn't mean I haven't accomplished anything, I have. It's with real life changes, I've not been so lucky, like giving up everything and living as a nomad.
Anyway, the past couple weeks I've started purchasing items I'll need for the camper like sewer hose, water hose, locks, wheel chocks etc. and today, I rented a storage unit for the camper.
The idea was to purchase property to put the camper on, but that has proving a tad difficult as most property is in a HOA which doesn't allow a camper only dwelling. As the camper could arrive anytime, I decided to find a storage unit, and there are a lot of RV storage places here in Reno. I found one close to my apartment and so, my camper will have a home.
Last weekend I finally put the down payment on a little camper like the one to the left. It’s a nuCamp Tab 400, with all the upgrades; pics will come when I get it next year.
It’s bigger in person. It has a full-size bed and a “wet” bath, which mean shower and toilet all in the same space. Can’t wait to get it, but am glad I have the next couple months to plan for it.
Work is going well, think I've adjusted to getting up early, or maybe I've convinced myself of it. Oh, I've signed my lease for another year. They didn't raise the rent and am not really prepared to make a decision on what's next, so watch for more pictures from my balcony; oh yes I occasionally do leave my apartment.
Since I moved here I've been looking at property. There are lots of parcels outside Reno that don't seem to be hugely expensive. When I lost my job with Bed Bath, I put that endeavor on hold. Now I have a job that seems stable, I've decided to pick that mantel up again.
Why propety when a lot of this blog was written around the idea of being a full-time nomad; well in the short term I don't think that can happen and that's ok, changes happen.
I'm thinking more long-term where I will want something more permanent to come to, maybe have a piece of land to call my own. I always think I'm late to the party, does that mean a boyfriend is around the corner?
I knew going in it wasn't a tech company; it's a manufacturing company, one that has been in Reno for 60 years. What does this mean, well, It's a shock to the system. I have to be there at 7am, WTF. The only benefit is I get out at 3:30pm, so there is that.
There are no cool perks, not sure they even heard of the word &perk&. We get 20 minute lunch with two 10 minute breaks throughout the day, again WTF.
On the upside. It's interesting work, designing interfaces that run medical robots. My team is cool and my boss is great. There won't be any ageism issues and really only looking for a job for the next couple years; I want to retire before I'm 65. I am thankful for the job, but having to be up at 5:30 is just whack, but at least it only takes me 15 minutes to drive there.
It's with a company here in Reno and I'll need to be back in the office, but to tell you the truth, I am looking forward to it. Unlike the Bay Area, it's easy to get around here in Reno so no 2 hour commutes.
The work is in my industry, but the company isn't a tech company so should be a culture shock. I'm finally getting out of retail which is great. Only a few more days of freedom.
The movers were great; oh and I have a piano; I did applogize for my heavy furniture. I can't believe the view I have from my balcony; this was so unexpected.

There haven’t been updates about the camper as I haven’t gone into the build yet. I am slated to take delivery on 10/23 and so expect to start the build process around June 2023. I have decided to go for a different layout for the 21’ camper. Why you ask? Well I had been watching videos of people who are full-timers and between the two layouts, they chose what is called 21C (c for classic), I originally was looking at the 21NE.
It turns out the 21C has more storage space and the layout is more conducive for full-timers. You get more kitchen area, more drawers, a smaller dinette, and a bed & bath up in the front.
All the apartment documents are signed and new renters insurance is all ready to go. I take over my Reno apartment on 12/20 but because they had move-in deals, I won’t have to pay rent until Feb 1, 2023. The place I’m moving in is called The Retreat, a completely new development it seems I’ll need to be more social…oh well. As my friend Pete said, it’s an end of an era.
One may ask why move, aren’t you going full-time in an RV? To answer that eventually. My RV won’t be ready until next summer/fall and at this point, I’m not ready to become a full-time RVer; there’s still so much to prepare. I look at this move as the next part in my journey and the future will take care of itself. Read about my adventure to Reno/Tahoe.
Everyone must take a shakedown tour. This is about my experience. Overall it went well and the park was nice, set among the mountains.
