In 1994 a partner and I owned a small apple orchard in Wisconsin. This is the story of that experience. Even though it only lasted three years, it became an engrained experience Jeremy and I still share today.

I knew my 24 year run in my industry had to be to good to be true. I was laid off, or should say my company went under and my last day was July 26, 2023.

It’s been an easy transition, but one of the greatest experiences is having a view. I’ve never had a view before and every time I look out the window or go onto the deck, there it is, a view of the mountains.

My house was packed, boxes everywhere and as I looked around to the 12 years of accumulated stuff, I wondered how I fit it all in. I knew I should have felt a sadness in leaving, but I’ve moved many times in the past and I guess the only way to do it is compartmentalize your feelings so you can stay focused on what needs to be done.
